SLEEPING WITH THE DINOSAUR
for BC, MF, AC, JMG, SG, SM, SD, BM, CF, GF, GT, MG, SB, JR, NF, AN, SJ, BW, AG, LCB
We haven't woken up. The dinosaur's still here.
Ireland, Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, who's next?
I wouldn't really blame U2 entirely, but still...
We both work and struggle; are we wrong?
Ireland, Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, who's next?
Lucky to be working, but still struggling on.
We both work and struggle; are we wrong?
Money's too tight to mention, just an illusion.
Lucky to be working, but still struggling on.
We are lambs slaughtered for the bankers' sins.
Money's too tight to mention, just an illusion.
We've been fucked over by some elite psychopaths.
We are lambs slaughtered for the bankers' sins.
This is why I get no pay rise.
We've been fucked over by some elite psychopaths.
Bankers sank us and now we pay shit.
This is why I get no pay rise.
Break off your landlord's nose and sell it.
Bankers sank us and now we pay shit.
Counting every penny because every penny counts now.
Break off your landlord's nose and sell it.
Turn down the downturn. Frivolity. Spend. Spend. Spend
Counting every penny because every penny counts now.
Infinite growth on a finite planet is insane.
Turn down the downturn. Frivolity. Spend. Spend. Spend.
Pay frozen for 4 years! Where's my bonus?
Infinite growth on a finite planet is insane.
Economic plummet has Great Britain on her knees!
Pay frozen for 4 years! Where's my bonus?
Many paying for the greed of a few.
Economic plummet has Great Britain on her knees!
Banks, unregulated, made hay at expense of poor.
Many paying for the greed of a few.
My dead cat would make a better Chancellor.

Stealing from the poor, 'banking' up the rich.

DECIDEDLY ENTIRELY
Unequivocally, altogether, clearly
by public vote
and for aught we can do invariably wicked,
and for aught we can ever do invariably wicked.
Contingent that all of these products,
wholeheartedly against/opposed to this idea
immensely, moderately, nearly, perfectly
too socialised. I convicted myself to soft blanket.

YAN DAUDU
I did not want to watch pornography or boxing.
I wanted to sew or knit.
I can knit pornography for you very nicely
if you like.
I did not want to be doctors or construction workers.
I wanted to be nurses and secretaries.
I can construct secretaries for you very nicely
if you like.
I did not want to be self-confident and aggressive.
I wanted to be passive and submissive.

MY GRANDFATHER DIED
My grandfather died on Monday?
My grandfather died this morning?
I just got news that my grandpa died?
Death of grandfather.
For my grandpa.
Grandfather death poem.
He died in the early hours of this morning.
It was expected.
He's been ill for decades.
He hasn't been able to speak.
My stupid dying grandpa.
My grandfather is dead.
I live in a different country.
I couldn't even cry.
I knew the peas would have an answer.
How do you feel about Tony dying?

OZYMANDIAS
"The worst of it, though, was what Morgan did to the poem. All of his filchings so far have involved his altering the original, usually making small or very small changes to the text but always changing the title, a puerile gesture of concealment."

As the poem paces down Main Street,
I shaved my fathers for the first time. The sun's going to rise.
Leaf.
Everything the hand of man lets fall is perfectly unlike
summer coming to term in cicadas' dozing.
Fire inside the lantern. Roots in Earth.
I surprise myself, don't you? Look at these books, this garden,
bear that weight.
The sun gives up and lets go of the horizon —
has no money, is proud of not having any money.

A WASTING SONG
for DB
Travelling east
from Westminster
on the Jubilee line,
you lose one year
off your life
for each stop
you don't get off at.
Ulcers on the feet which go untreated.
Violence from passers by.
Unable to wash or shower on your period.
Being discharged from prison to the streets.
Exhaustion from walking around at night.
Being scared.
Westminster
Waterloo
Southwark
London Bridge
People are quick
to tell you to pick
yourself up.
Premature death.
Bermondsey
I shoplift for basics —
milk and bread.
People in their dressing gowns
at 3.30 in the afternoon.
Depression.
Black moods.
I live like I'm in prison.
Britain's big freeze.
The brutal Arctic blast.
A biting wind.
5000 deaths in a long, dead winter.
Canada Water
Canary Wharf
Oil and tar.
The body was still
in a bag at the scene
guarded by police
five hours after
it was dragged from the river.
A second body was recovered
by RNLI
at 8.08 a.m.
North Greenwich
Canning Town
West Ham
Stratford
Something going down in #Westfield,
Popo and cordens.
Somebody got themselves stabbed in #Westfield.
Can't even get to Nando's.
RIP the young man
who got stabbed
to death today
in Stratford #Westfield.
It's a
sad
world
we live
